About Southern Belle

Layout
Southern Belle is a 1995 Fountain Pajot, Venezia-42 catamaran sailboat.
There are 4 double private cabins with closets, 2 in each hull, each
equipped with a fan and ventilation hatches.  There are also 2 forward
“crew” cabins that currently serve as storage. Each hull has a head
equipped with a toilet and hot/cold shower.   There is also a shower on the
aft steps.  In the center bridge-deck is a spacious saloon/galley that can
seat 8 adults at the table.  The cockpit can easily seat 12 and also has a
dining table.  Weather protection for the cockpit is provided by a fixed
bimini/dodger with removable plastic windows and screens. Ample space for
lounging and sunning is available on the forward nets.

Water We have hot/cold running water with 150 gallon water tank capacity
and a 30-gallon hot water heater. We make our water with an Aqua Marine
engine-driven desalination plant capable of making 24 gallons per hour.

Galley  The galley is equipped with a 3-burner propane stove with oven, a
double sink with hot/cold fresh water and salt water; a large refrigerator/
freezer; and our latest addition...a portable ice-maker.  On the aft rail is a
Magma propane gas grill.

Power  12V and 110V power is supported by eight 12V batteries – two for
engine starting, six for the house bank.  Power  is supplied to the batteries
by two 110-watt solar panels, an Air-X Marine wind generator, a 2 KW
generator; and/or the diesel engines, as needed.  The 110v capability is
provided by a 2000 watt inverter/charger.

Navigation/Propulsion  Southern Belle is a sloop-rigged catamaran with a
130 genoa equipped with Profurl roller furling, a mainsail with 3 reefs, and a
spinnaker.  Auxillary propulsion is provided by two 27 HP Yanmar diesel
engines capable of moving the boat at about 7.5 knots.  The fuel capacity is
100 gallons.

An Autohelm ST6000 autopilot assists with driving duties. Navigation support
is provided by a Garmin 2010C GPS Chartplotter and Furuno 24-mile Radar
along with the usual boat speed/windspeed/compass instruments.

Communication  We have a marine single side band radio (ICOM M710)
for long-range communications equipped with a Pactor modem  for
receiving/sending e-mail and weather information and a VHF radio for short
range boat-to-boat communications.  We also have an EPIRB (emergency
position indicating radio beacon) should the unthinkable occur and we need
to call for emergency assistance.

Entertainment  Flat screen TV with DVD/playstation, huge DVD and video
game library, stereo, guitars, other assorted musical instruments, a roomful
of toys and games, kayaks, snorkel equipment, surfboard, and the world
fulfill our entertainment needs.  In addition, to move about anchorages we
have a 10-ft inflatable dinghy equipped with a 15hp 4-stroke outboard.
